Step 1: choosing the slabs

It all starts with choosing the slabs. We look for natural-edge pieces whose grain suits the design of the table: the pattern of the wood is what will define the character of the piece.

The slabs are prepared and presented facing each other to decide the width of the resin channel that will run between them.

Step 2: the mold and pouring in layers

Then a melamine mold is built to the size of the table, the slabs are set in place and the resin is poured in layers. Pouring in layers helps the piece come out even and flawless.

Heat is used to pop the bubbles that rise to the surface, so the channel stays clean and translucent.

Step 3: demolding, sanding and polishing

Once the piece is firm, it is demolded: the melamine mold is removed and the table appears in its real shape. Then it is sanded progressively until wood and resin sit in a single surface.

The last step is polishing, which brings back the translucency of the resin and leaves the table ready for its frame or legs.

Frequently asked questions

Why is resin poured in layers?
Pouring in layers helps the piece come out even and lets us pop the bubbles of each layer before moving on to the next.
How are bubbles removed from resin?
Bubbles rise to the surface and are popped with heat, leaving the channel clean and translucent.
What is a melamine mold?
It is the mold built to the size of the table where the slabs are placed and the resin is poured. At demolding, the piece already has its final shape.
